Summerfield PTA Works

Summerfield PTA offers a wealth of activities and services to the Summerfield Elementary school family.

AR is a computer-based; reading comprehension and motivational system designed to complement our classroom literacy program.

Students choose books to read and are able to take electronic reading comprehension on these books.  Students earn various prizes as rewards for their success with this program.

Reflections  is a national arts contest that begins with each school, then moves to county, state, and national judging.  This program encourages creativity and lifelong learning while offering recognition for artistic endeavors and enhances quality arts education for all students.

Various times throughout the school year, we have activities that are just for dad (or grandpa, or whoever else want to fill in for dad.
Lunch with dad is one of these activites.  Come have lunch with your special student any time but during "lunch with dad" week we will have additional tables set up.  Lunch schedules by grade are posted here soon.
For additional activities with our "dads", please check our weekly MailChimp.

As we did last year, we hope to have a summer garden after our spring crops are harvested.  In the summer, look for herbs, pumpkin, sunflowers, a variety of beans, tomatoes, okra, peas, eggplant, kale, collards, peppers, carrots, marigolds, cleome, nastursium and blueberries.

We are always in need of volunteers with an interest in gardening and a willingness to help maintain the spaces that have been developed. If you would like to lend a hand, please contact the garden team leader, Lisa Thomas thomasl4@gcsnc.com

Summerfield has lots of fun events that include Skate nights, dining nights, movie nights,  a Grasshopper game, a campout, dances and more!

Keep an eye on MailChimp to stay informed.

Healthy Vikings is an award-winning program with the mission to encourage children to make healthier choices and to develop the habit & desire to increase their level of exercise.  Each month, volunteers are provided with lesson plans for discussing various aspects of nutrician and heathly living.
