Summerfield School Garden
Thank you to a wonderful group of youth and parents from Summit Church for volunteering in the school garden for a fall cleanup. This group purchased soil and mulch to prepare several beds, pathways, and the outdoor classroom for fall. In addition, they weeded, raked, planted pansies and edibles, cleaned and remounted a rain barrel, and set up a new hose reel for us. I am grateful for their support to prepare the garden for the next growing season. See the attached photo of this wonderful group. Summit Church gets an A+ in my gradebook!
Thanks also to the Holbert family for transporting mulch/soil in their truck and helping unload the supplies at school in preparation for the fall cleanup.
In future communications, we’ll be using a new garden logo designed by Claudia Bonilla. The design is based on an original sketch from Julie Cooper, another talented Summerfield parent.
Over the winter months, I will be contacting garden volunteers to prepare for the spring 2019 garden season.
